Hiker
Pur Hiker water filter has been around for a number
of years and has been run through the ringer by a
lot of backpackers. Generally, it is popular. And
in my opinion it is one of the more stable and easily
water filters on the market, and one of the best values
for the money.
With that being said, it's still a water filters.
And they are sometimes just plain a flat pain in the
hind end. You talk to enough backpackers, especially
those who have been out a lot, and almost everyone
will have the evil water filter story of some sort
or another. The Pur Hiker is no exception. They can
and do break, clog and quit working, whether they
are Pur Hiker or not. And sometimes that occurs in
the middle of a major backpacking trip.

Still,
for the money, if you are set on getting a water filter,
my personal choice would be the Pur Hiker. There is
no real need to get a very expensive water filter
in theUnited States and Canada, in my opinion. The
cheaper ones, and least the good cheaper ones, do
a quite acceptable job for the main culprit to be
found here - giardia.
The Pur filter has been used all over the world, and
quite successfully by most people. .
