Giardia Symptoms
Diarrhea,
bloating, flatulence (farting), stomach cramps, fatigue
and weight loss. Those are the classical giardia
symptoms given in the medical literature.
From my own personal experience and that of outdoor
people interviewed, we'll go a step further. And we'll
go into the symptoms from other problems you might
have from drinking bad water or eating bad food. We'll
go into giardia treatment, momentarily.
Giardia
Symptoms Cycle
Typically
someone gets giardia symptoms about two weeks
after ingesting the critter. You'll often feel off
your feed. The first symptom is often a loss of appetite.
You should be ravenous after hiking 10 miles, but
instead you suddenly don't feel like eating anything.
The giardia has taken hold of your gut. There is rumbling
down there. Churning guts. You may start farting.
You'll probably do some belching. And if you've been
a member of the Giardia Club before, you may begin
thinking back to the places you ate or drank a week
or two ago.
Giardia
Symptoms and Diarrhea
Next,
you'll probably notice the main giardia symptoms most
people - a bout of diarrhea. The Runs. The Trots.
There are some differences in types of diarrheas,
which as a member of the Giardia Club you will become
well acquainted with in your travels. We'll go into
the gruesome details in a moment, along with giardia
treatment.
It's important for you to have an understanding of
the symptoms of some other intestinal problems because
it makes a difference in treatment. And it makes a
difference in what you can expect in the next few
days or weeks of your trip. That's why recognizing
giardia symptoms is important..
