Giardia Symptoms and Asian Toilets
Asian
toilets and Giardia Symptoms
If you happen to be in much of Asia, you especially
want to make certain that hand washing is going on.
Toilet paper isn't used there. Rather, water dribbled
over the back end and then cleaned off with the left
hand.
It's actually a very good method, and you might want
to learn it. It greatly decreases the chance of irritation
and hemorrhoids which can result from using toilet
paper. That's especially true when you consider the
number of times you'll be visiting the toilet with
a diarrhea attack.
"I
wish I were dead" Giardia Symptoms
I've
heard of this type of giardia, but never experienced
it. I've only seen one other person with it this bad
once - at more than 15,000 feet elevation in the Himalayas.
So, altitude sickness might have been involved with
him, too.
When you've had it this bad, the typical statement
by someone is "I felt like I was going to die."
I sometimes wonder if this type of really crappy feeling
might be brought on by something else, like food poisoning.
Or, by aggravating the giardia infection by eating
the wrong types of foods.
But I don't want to underestimate it. Some people
really do feel very, very bad when they get giardia.
Others are so lightly effected, they don't even know
they've got it.
